How to prevent diabetes

Diabetes is an insidious disease that’s effecting more and more Americans. Learning how to prevent diabetes is something that can save you and your loved ones not only pain, suffering and money – it can save your life.

The first step in learning how to prevent diabetes is to do some research on the disease itself. What causes it? Is it something that you’re at high risk for? Is it something that can be prevented easily, or does it require a special routine and expensive drugs?

For most people figuring out how to prevent diabetes is simple. Eat a diet heavy on fresh fruits and vegetables and low on sweets. And exercise regularly. You’ll want to get your heartrate up for a solid 20 minutes three or four times a week – the more, and the longer the duration, the better.

Diabetes, like heart disease and arthritis, is an inflammatory disease. As such it’s important to visit the doctor regularly and monitor your LDL and HDL cholesterol. LDL is low-density, or “Bad” cholesterol. HDL is high-density, or “good” cholesterol. You’ll want to keep your LDL count below 130 and your HDL count above 50. Green leafy vegetables like spinach or broccoli will help lower that LDL count. You’ll also want to avoid high cholesterol, high fat foods like red meat or any dairy products. Those are sure to raise your LDL, and as that gets higher, you’re more and more suceptible to diabetes.

As for raising your HDL, there is only one answer: Exercise. Some studies have shown that certain mediterranean diets may help as well, but they’re largely inconclusive. The only answer, then, is to get to the gym or go out for a jog. If you want to learn how to prevent diabetes, that’s step one.

Once you’ve incorporated more fruits and vegetables into your diet and taken some red meat and ice cream out, it’s time to look at what else is in your cupboard. Yes, candy and sweets are generally bad for you, but some sweets are worse than others. Check the ingredients in your cookies. If it has high-fructose corn syrup, throw it away. Then check your soda. Corn syrup? Toss it. Check your catsup. Check your crackers, your potato chips, your yogurt. Check everything in your house and if it has corn syrup, throw it out.

After exercise and addition of fruits and vegetables to your diet, eliminating corn syrup is the next most important step on your journey of learning how to prevent diabetes. It’s a sweetener that’s used in almost every pre-packaged product in America, and there are boatloads of compelling evidence that it’s largely to blame for the explosion in diabetes cases over the past 35 years. The medical community has caught on, and more folks are becoming aware of this additive, but not enough. Not yet, anyway, and it’s important for your own health that you become one of the enlightened.

Of course, you should also talk to your doctor about how to prevent diabetes. Folks of certain ethnic backgrounds are more suceptible to diabetes than others, so make sure to talk about that. Also be aware of your family history. If a parent, or a grandparent has/had diabetes, that makes it more likely that you will as well. So be healthy, be active, eat well, and be aware of what can cause this disease, and how to prevent it.How to prevent pimples? It’s far easier than you might imagine!

Pimples, a.k.a. zits, are every teen’s nightmare. Yet, there they are, sometimes day after day and surely week after week. Pimples are enough to ruin your day! Although they seem an inevitable result of being a teen, if you know how to prevent pimples, these blemishes can become only an occasional annoyance, which you can quickly nip in the bud. Don’t believe me? Read on!

The most difficult part of learning how to prevent pimples is in accepting that they are not a fact of life. As a teen, you know that pimples crop up at the most inconvenient times. Why do teens get pimples on a regular basis, while adults seem to outgrow this vexation once into their mid-twenties?

It’s all a matter of your hormones, which cause your sebaceous glands to produce excessive amounts of oil. The good news is that these very oils are what keeps your skin soft and supple. The bad news is that the excess oil is all dressed up with nowhere to go, showing up in pimples. Perhaps your Mom has tried to shore up your flagging confidence by telling you that oily skin means you’ll have lovely skin later on in life. This sort of comfort chat does little to make you feel better now, when you’re getting ready for a date and a big zit suddenly appears!

Let’s face it, at your age, you can’t think that knowing how to prevent pimples will prove 100% effective one or two will show up now and then but you can certainly make those few and far between. Here’s how to prevent pimples from being a daily or weekly issue.

The secrets are not well-kept secrets and are entirely within your control. Your diet, cleansing procedures and reducing stress are paramount in your effort to prevent pimples. Perhaps this sounds like some broken, overplayed soundtrack, but, nonetheless it’s true.

Teens are notorious for consuming soda, junk food, fatty foods and sugar in copious amounts. You know this is true! Next time you pick up a candy bar, check the food label for the ingredients. You’ll find oils and sugars galore. A greasy, fast food burger and fries may be tasty, but you can bet this lunch or dinner will show up on your face in no time. If you’re serious about knowing how to prevent pimples, take a page from the health food freaks. You don’t need to follow a total abstinence program from these treats, but you do need to change the balance of your diet such that the Friday night burger-fries treat is just that a treat and not everyday fare.

Much as Mom might irritate you with her lectures on good, wholesome food, she’s really trying to do you a favor. She was a teen, oh so long ago, too. She knows that pimples are the scourge of teenage happiness.

A good complexion relies on certain nutrients essential to the health of your skin. Among the most important are vitamins A, C, and E, along with trace minerals, such as zinc. These nutrients form the core of a clear complexion. That’s why you’ve got to learn to load up on fruits and veggies. At your age, vitamin supplements of A, C and E and the mineral zinc are absolutely your BFF’s in how to prevent pimples. If you load up on produce six days a week, you might be able to indulge in that Friday night fling with the burger and fries.

Along with dietary changes, you need to implement a daily skin cleansing program, first opening the pores of your skin with a mild soap, rinsing well and then applying an astringent, such as witch hazel. Do this morning and evening.

Stress is a given for teenagers. By reducing stress, you’re a step closer to knowing how to prevent pimples. Don’t be a couch potato! Get out and exercise in whatever form you find pleasing. Take a ride on your bike, dance, do yard work or whatever you enjoy. You’ll sweat out toxins that produce pimples. Then, go wash your face and kick back!

How to prevent pimples? It’s easy enough you just need to be diligent in your diet, de-stressing and a conscientious skin cleansing program. Do these three things and check back in a month. You will get positive results!

How to Increase Website Traffic

This is one of those “how long IS that piece of string” questions, it’s almost mindless in its intent. The purpose behind every-single-website on the planet is how to increase website traffic, to further extend either your product offering’s or the services that you provide. Increasing traffic to a specific site is not all that difficult. Frankly, I know of several ways that you can artificially increase traffic (or should I say, “alleged” traffic) to a site for less than $20 per month, and I’ll guarantee at least 10,000 hits per month, probably more for that price. This method (no, I’m not going to tell) is great if all you want is to show that your site can get hits, even if the hits are bought, but what if you want to attract buying, targeted traffic?

This is where it gets a little bit sticky, and a lot more costly when done wrong. If your asking how to increase website traffic that matters, the only answer that honest is that you go out and look for people that want your product. Sure, that’s not as cut and dried as it may sound, but it is still true. For this service, expect to pay. Especially if you use a listing service, that guarantee’s a top listing for you. What they don’t usually tell you is that those “guaranteed” listings are what amounts to ad’s, not listings for your site. Sure, you’ll get the traffic, for a second or two, but does that justify the costs involved??

Your call on that, but there’s only one way that will always return customers to you at negligible cost – content. What’s on those pages you put sweat and blood into. If your site is 3 years old, frak, if only 3 months old, and still with the same intro page text, your losing out – massively. With fresh content, your pages will continually come up at the head of the search engine results, once you have the correct tags in place to denote the content (‘tags’ are those single words that are in the body of the posting that will bring the content up when searched for) and if the content is relevant.

Bottom line is that it doesnt need to cost Earth when its down to how to increase website traffic, it just needs good stuff that people want to know about on your pages.
How to lose weight without feeling deprived and starving!

How to lose weight is the topic of many a lunchtime conversation these days. There are more weight loss plans than you can shake a stick at, but the incidence of overweight and obese Americans doesn’t jive with the number of weight loss programs from which we can choose. So what’s the problem? Is it simply a lack of discipline on the part of would-be dieters? Can the fault be laid at the door of genes, or a slow metabolism? Perhaps the lack of success many dieters experience may be partially explained as a little of each of these possibilities.

However dare I say it in many cases, it’s too easy to use these possibilities as a way to excuse ourselves from the bottom line. This is not to say that dieting is easy. The trick to learning how to lose weight is in getting the right mindset, prior to beginning your diet.

Much like quitting smoking, you’ve got to have a commitment to following through and a plan of attack. You’ve got to psych yourself up, with all the reasons why you want to lose weight listed in black and white, posted in a conspicuous place. Tape a copy on the frig, on the bathroom mirror and on the scales. Using this technique, you’ve got the motivation squarely in your face. What remains is how to lose weight without feeling deprived, starved or sorry for yourself. Success is the objective.

Think of this: have you ever known an overweight vegetarian? If you decided to become a vegetarian, you’d discover how to lose weight quickly and effortlessly. Vegetables have very few calories. While a strictly vegetarian diet may not be your cup of tea, front loading your meals with substantial quantities of vegetables is one of the secrets of how to lose weight. There are so many herbal seasonings and salt substitutes available, so you can really dress up the taste, while feeling full to boot. Begin your meal with a large course of vegetables and a glass of flavored water. A dash of lemon juice will add a spark of tangy flavor, as well as aiding in digestion. You can even put some butter on the veggies to really make the whole deal enjoyable. Allow 10-15 minutes after you’ve eaten the first course before moving on to the second course.

A second course of fish, chicken or other lean meat provides your protein. Waiting 10-15 minutes after finishing the first course gives your stomach a chance to say Ah, yes, now we’re talking! You may even feel a bit full to move on to the protein. That seemingly stingy 4-6 ounce portion of meat may now seem difficult to finish. Go ahead. You can do it. Refill your water glass. Eat slowly and enjoy every bite.

Still hungry? This is doubtful, but there’s an easy remedy. Have seconds on vegetables. Have a banana for dessert. Slice an apple and give it a sprinkling of cinnamon mixed with Splenda(TM), a sugar substitute with zero calories. High fiber fruits and vegetables will fill you up, guaranteed.

Whole grains and fruit for breakfasts, a big chef’s salad for lunch and lots of water throughout the day. Elegantly drawn out dinner feasts. These are the foolproof secrets on how to lose weight and keep it off.

How to lose weight fast, but safely! Lose 10 pounds in two weeks!

So you went and tried on your favorite LBD, only to find, horror of horrors, it doesn’t fit! You’ve got a big event coming up in just a couple of weeks. You need to lose weight, and fast! Some of us can look at a candy bar and put on a few pounds, or maybe even ten. That weight sometimes creeps on before you know it. You’ve probably heard that old harangue, that the only way to lose weight safely is to do so slowly. Well, if you need to lose weight fast, that’s not much of a comfort. The truth is, if you have just ten pounds to lose, you can have your cake and eat it too, in a manner of speaking! Here are some quick weight loss tips that can have you looking fine in that sexy dress. Although this strategy requires some discipline, 10 pounds is not 100 and two weeks fly by. If you want to know how to lose weight fast, we’ve got the skinny. Here we go.

Drink lots and lots of water. Keep a glass at your desk, in the kitchen while cooking and at your bedside table. If you’re one of those many people who don’t like water, add a teaspoon or so of lemon juice to a glass of ice cold water. The lemon juice helps speed up your metabolism as well. Drink your water throughout the day, including with meals. This is an essential component in your how to lose weight fast program. BTW, cut soda completely out of your memory banks for just these two weeks!

Follow a diet that consists almost entirely of fruits and vegetables. Most produce is rich in fiber and low in calories. The fiber helps cleanse your system of toxins and requires energy (calories) to digest, so the net number of calories ingested is even less than the food actually contains. You’re burning some of the calories in the food just by eating it! In addition, the high fiber content makes you feel quite full.

Forget the burgers and fries. Now, don’t whine! It’s only two weeks. Fish and chicken breasts are your allies. Serve up a fish filet as an entree, add a bundle of shrimp or broiled, julienned chicken breast strips to a yummy salad. Use your imagination. Think ‘I know how to lose weight fast and I will succeed!’

Another well known, but often ignored secret on how to lose weight fast is, yes, exercise. Exercise every day, as much as you can fit in to your daily schedule. Give up TV for a couple of weeks and exercise for the same period of time you would have spent on the couch. Take the stairs, not the elevator. Park far away from the doors to the mall or office.

Brainstorm on every possible opportunity to exert extra effort in everything you do. You can even exercise while working at your desk. Do leg lifts, with knees bent, lifting your feet just a couple of inches off the floor and holding for a count of ten. Alternate with each leg. Here’s a good one: when you’re rinsing the dinner dishes, place a couple of thick books at the base of the counter, forcing yourself to lean forward to reach the sink. Silly? No! You’ll flatten your tummy, always a good thing when you need to know how to lose weight fast. Weight lifting exercises are also an excellent choice. In addition to burning calories, you’re toning muscles, to look especially alluring in your LBD come party night.

Before you begin, clear your two week how to lose weight fast program with your doctor. Promise to take a good multiple vitamin every day. That’s all there is to it. Follow the program fanatically. Voila! Ten pounds gone in two weeks!

Learning how to dress for every occasion is a valuable skill

Have you ever gone to a wedding and seen a guest whose outfit made her as noticeable as the bride? Most everyone has. Every office worker has seen a co-worker who dresses as though she were out on the town Friday night, every day. It’s surprising, when you look around, how often people dress inappropriate to the occasion. Sometimes, it’s a case of vanity, but most often people are just not adept at the fashion scene. Maybe fashion is not an important part of their life.

However, learning how to dress for the occasion can save you some embarrassment and enhance your social life. Knowing how to dress is more a matter of fitting in to the them than anything else. The attention-grabbing office dresser may believe she’s looking ultra professional, when in fact, the women resent her and mock her, while the guys wonder how she dresses for a date to the movies.

Learning how to dress for the event is not to say that there are hard and fast rules and formulas. It’s more about feeling comfortable in social situations, and not making others feel uncomfortable. Let’s take a look at a few types of occasions and the guidelines which make sense for each.

How about the wedding guest who outshines the bride? This can easily be done, albeit innocently. You’re not the fashion maven, and you get an expensive and glitzy dress, thinking you’re demonstrating your esteem for your friend the bride. Instead, when you arrive, most of the women guests are dressed in low-key summer prints, in stylish but conservative cuts. When you attend any function where there’s an automatic star of the show be she a bride or a birthday girl let her have her day. Dress nicely, but not flamboyantly. That’s knowing how to dress.

A boy at school has invited you out for pizza and a movie. You know his funds are limited. The local pizza place is a teen hangout. Here’s definitely a case of when in Rome … . A nice shirt and a pair of jeans will put him at ease. Spend your glitzy urges on nice shiny hair. If you get carried away trying to impress him with how hot you are, you may have the opposite effect. He’ll be embarrassed at how you stand out and away. He may also feel outclassed and you’ll never hear from him again.

Now, let’s say this same boy has invited you to the prom. This is a different story. Every single girl is guaranteed to try to be the Belle of the ball. Here’s where you can pull out many not all the stops. Here’s where your handmade Renaissance style velvet dress with gold lace trim makes you a winner.

Learning how to dress is a matter of considering your companion’s comfort and then dressing to the nines, for the occasion.

Learning how to earn extra money

Times are tough. We all know that we’re in the deepest recession in at least 30 years. Some experts even say it’s the worst it’s been since the Great Depression of the 1930s. So in these tough economic times, we all want to know how to earn extra money. Anything to supplement your salary, or put a little cash away for a vacation later in the season, or pay down those outrageous credit card debts.

Start by going online and searching “how to earn extra money.” There’s a fair number of how-to guides out there, but beware of the ones that charge a fee. Chances are they’ll just be giving you the same advice you could get from any free guide out there, and your goal is to learn how to earn extra money, not how to spend money you don’t have!

Some ideas I found were pretty straightforward: Have a sidewalk sale to get rid of your old CDs, or old clothes, shoes, etc. In these tough econonomic times, people are way more willing to buy secondhand instead of finding something new. By doing this you get to earn extra money while they get to save a couple of bucks. It’s the free market doing what the market does best.

If you’re not into garage sales or flea markets of the like, then maybe try EBay. They wrote the book on how to earn extra money, and are a global multi-billion dollar company as a result. That old coat of yours could get you a couple of bucks if you EBay it, as could that old VCR. Or maybe it’s time to sell that collection of baseball cards or Beanie Babies. Whatever you’ve got hidden away in your basement or attic is something that can potentially be turned into cash.

Another step in figuring out how to earn extra money is figuring out what you’re really motivated to do. Are you willing to take your Saturday and Sunday mornings and turn them into profit? If so, then start a local lawn service. Offer to mow lawns, trim hedges, rake leaves, shovel snow – whatever fits you the best. There’s nothing wrong with a bit of manual labor, especially if it’s the difference between making rent that month and not. Or if it’s the difference between keeping your credit score on the good side of the ledger, an issue that’s becoming more and more of a concern as banks put the squeeze on more and more people.

One of the great ways to pick up some extra cash if you’ve got a truck or a pickup is to perform “Man with a van” services. How to earn extra money with this? Well, you’ll see this advertised on Craigslist all the time, especially in cities where few people have cars, and professional moving services tend to price gouge. Charge whatever you think is realistic – you can do research on this online – and always be courteous and diligent. Once you’ve built up a reputation as a prompt and hard worker, you’d be surprised at how much cash word-of-mouth can bring in for you. And that is the point, after all, isn’t it?

If you’re not the “man-with-a-van” type, you could consider gardening and selling your own home-grown fruits and vegetables. Or having a car wash, or becoming a dog-walker. All of these personal services are in demand, and finding the one that suits you best shouldn’t be too hard. Love dogs and exercise? Advertise your services. Grow the best carrots in the neighborhood? Set up a stand downtown and earn a couple of bucks.

The opportunities are there. Just make sure you take the time to look for them!

How To Speak French

Although I was able to learn French fast, it took me considerably longer to master speaking a foreign language. A lot of people think it is hard to learn how to speak French, but I’ve always had a sort of natural facility for languages. I grew up speaking German and English in my household, so I was already bilingual before I even tried speaking French. I actually started off pretty casually. I had a friend who was a native French speaker, and she agreed to be my conversation partner. Besides that, I used an online French course and some software that had been recommended to me. It definitely helped to master the basics in my spare time. I did not really have time to take another course at that moment, so it was nice to be able to learn the really simple stuff on my own.

Still, I never mastered how to speak French until I finally took a course overseas. I did a study abroad program, staying in a French academy in Paris. It was one of the best experiences of my life. Learning to speak a foreign language is easy if you can really immerse yourself in the culture. When you have to know how to speak French just to get by, order food, or get directions, you can pick it up pretty quickly. The thing is, you don’t even really need to work on it that much. The desire to learn is so strong when you’re trying to immerse yourself in a culture that it comes almost naturally.

My sister had a lot more trouble learning how to speak French, and I know her experience isn’t uncommon. If you have a natural affinity for foreign languages, learning one can be extremely difficult. Still, even for these people, studying French abroad is probably the best way to go. It is true that the more you work on something, the faster you pick it up. If you work on a new language for several hours every day, it will take you no time at all to get the basics down. You might never master it and speak truly fluently, but you can at least make yourself understood. After taking a course in France, even my sister could speak fluent conversational French well, fairly fluent anyway. People can tell that she is not a native speaker, but she never has trouble getting her point across. At some point in your life you’ve probably heard the expression “working for the man.” This basically refers to what most people do each and every day. You go to work for a major company of industry of some sort, and then you’re expected to work a certain shift so that the folks you work for can make more capital. In the meantime you make a small amount of money for the effort you put forth. What I mean by this is that you make a small amount in comparison to what you make for the company. Now, there is a solution to this workforce madness. Many individuals around the world are looking into how to start up a small business for themselves and their families. It’s important to know that most individuals who start their own business make a great deal more than those who choose to work for someone else. Suddenly you’re not a mere cog in the machine, but rather you’re the machine itself. Are you ready to increase your income?

It all starts with an idea. If you are one of the millions who want to learn how to start up a small business, then you should begin with your preferred concept. Maybe your idea is to sell handmade jewelry online. If you already have the skills and know-how to design and create unique jewelry, then now you need to learn how to market your products. This all starts with a website. In this day and age, virtually every business known to man has a website. And the better you make your website look, the better off you are. This means regular updates and pages that appeal to the masses. On your website you should tell a bit about yourself and your products, display your products, display the prices and how to purchase.

Those who’re truly serious about learning how to start up a small business should use the Internet to their advantage. You’d be amazed at how many great tips and advice is offered free of charge on the web. Once you get your website up and running, you can use links and ads to acquire traffic, something which is essential to make a web-based business work. Anyway, that is the basic scoop concerning private businesses and how to start up a small business from your home with minimal supplies and funding. Learn How to Stop Spam Now

I used to get anywhere between 30-50 junk e-mail messages per day in main account. It was such a headache to have to weed through all of the garbage to get to the important stuff, and it wasted quite a bit of time as well. One day, I got so fed up with the situation that I decided to educate myself on how to stop spam. The techniques I discovered are simple, yet very powerful and effective. Here’s what I did.

The first thing I learned about how to stop spam is to guard my e-mail address very carefully. Spammers often purchase mailing lists containing addresses of people who have signed up, registered for, or purchased one thing or another online. Obviously, I can’t completely avoid these activities, so what I did instead was create a separate e-mail account that I use for shopping, forum registrations, and newsletters that I want to receive, while reserving my regular account for friends, family, and business associates. This system has been working out very nicely, and isn’t nearly as cumbersome as I feared it might be.

Another basic tip for how to stop spam is to never reply to — or even open — junk mail. Most of these unsolicited messages contain a link for you to click to be removed from the mailing list, and many recipients are of course tempted to do just that. But this is merely a trick that spammers use to get you to verify that your address is valid, and you won’t really be removed from their mailing list at all. In fact, you’re likely to get even more junk mailings by doing this, as these unscrupulous spammers sell and re-sell your address.

An additional technique for how to stop spam involves managing your mail account by setting up filters. All of the popular e-mail clients offer the ability to filter messages; it just takes a bit of time to get things set up. Filters work by diverting mail to any folder that you specify, and can greatly reduce the junk you see. For example, if you constantly get spammed by someone at a particular address, you can create a filter that will automatically send messages from that address to the Trash bin or Bulk Mail folder. This is very easy to do, and is quite effective.

If your Inbox is constantly clogged with unwanted mail, then the basic tips I’ve just given you for how to stop spam might not be enough. For those tougher cases, you should check out some anti-spam software that can help get things back under control. In extreme instances, it might be necessary to ditch your current account and start off with a fresh one.

Since I started using these tips for how to stop spam, the number of junk messages I receive has decreased by about 90 percent. Of the remaining 10 percent, my filters successfully divert most into my Bulk Mail folder, so I never have to see them. Now, only one or two commercial mailings per week make it to through to my Inbox, which is a number I can live with!
